The Doink heard 'round the world

It's now the Doink heard 'round the world.

Or perhaps the Double Doink.

I had it pegged on the front page of Monday's Daily Times, noting that Cody Parkey's last-second field goal had clanked off both the upright and then the crossbar before falling back to the turf - without going through - thus sealing the Bears' fate and making the Eagles winners again.

As it turns out, the league has now officially ruled it a block since Eagles lineman Treyvon Hester actually got a fingertip on the ball.

Now Parkey's misfortune is showing up all over the place.

A billboard now is showcasing the event along I-295 in South Jersey.

T-shirts are starting to show up with the saying emblazoned on it.

I have to admit that there is a part of me that feels bad for Parkey. He is a former Eagle after all. That is the fate of the placekicker. You know there is the likelihood that you are either going to be a hero - or the goat - when it comes to those last-second kicks.

On Sunday, Parkey sat at his locker and calmly answered questions about the miss and his feeling on letting his teammates down.

Class act.

I'll still take the win.

On to New Orleans.
