Is it just me, or does it seem you just can't do the weather without a hot buzz word.
It's not hot out, you have to know the heat index.
Cold? nah, what's the wind chill.
Real-feel temperature? Beats the hell out of me.
So brace yourself. What do you think the over-under is on how many times in the next couple of days we're going to hear the term, "Flash Freeze."
Sounds like something from the movie "The Day After Tomorrow."
What it means is that after we have a couple of sloppy days - first later tonight and then into Friday morning, followed by another storm Saturday afternoon - temperatures are going to go off a cliff Sunday.
They're talking about it dropping as much as 40 or 50 degrees in a couple of hours.
And that means all that slop is going to freeze.
But, of course, "flash freeze" sounds so much more dramatic.
Tonight's weather event doesn't sound like a big deal. We likely will get a dusting of snow starting after the evening rush hour, which will eventually turn over to rain. The Friday morning rush hour might be a mess, but it's not a big deal.
They sound a bit more dubious about what is going to happen Saturday. Again it will start as light snow, then change over to rain. And that rain is supposed to be heavy at times, leading to possible flooding problems.
Then the coldest air mass of the winter will arrive later Sunday and into Monday.
Thus, "Flash Freeze."
Swell.
