So much for the peaceful start to the new year.
Delaware County made it to Day 42 of 2019 before recording its first homicide of the year.
Then it saw two on consecutive days.
Both occurred in the city of Chester.
But before you offer a smirk, you might want to consider what happened just a few hours later. A drug deal gone bad among a group of teens wound up with one shot in the face and other other under arrest.
This didn't happen in Chester. It happened in Haverford.
Crime happens everywhere.
It is very often tied into drugs and guns.
And it does not mean that the efforts to battle crime are not having an effect. The numbers tell us otherwise.
