Energy Transfer boss: 'We've made mistakes'

The next time you hear someone say the big-time business execs don't listen to the public - or the media for that matter - don't believe it.

Kelcy Warren is the head man at Energy Transfer Partners. They're the parent company of Sunoco Pipeline. They're the remnants of Delco business icon Sunoco. They also happen to be the behemoth building the very controversial Mariner East Pipeline project. In the eyes of many, that makes Warren Darth Vader, and Energy Transfer Public Enemy No. 1.

For months, critics have assailed the Mariner East project, saying the notion of transporting hundreds of thousands of barrels of volatile liquid gases every day through densely populated neighborhoods - including a stone's throw from elementary schools and senior centers - is inherently dangerous.

It turns out Warren has heard the complaints.

During a recent company conference call, he admitted the company has made mistakes in building Mariner East in Pennsylvania. "We've made mistakes and will not make those mistakes again," Warren said.

In the meantime, the legal challenges to the pipeline continue to gain support.
