Think the NFL would like to have the Eagles back?
It's official. We're no longer defending Super Bowl champions. The end came at 10:04 last night, ending three and a half hours of drudgery known as Super Bowl LIII.
You kind of knew what was coming when the Patriots missed a field goal in the first quarter.
It didn't get a lot better.
It was still 3-0 at the half. The Rams evened it with a field goal of their own in the third quarter, before Tom Brady marched the Patriots the length of the field to sew it up.
This was not exactly the Philly Special.
That vaunted Rams' offense led by Jared Goff? Have they made it to the stadium yet?
Give credit to Bill Belichick. His defensive game plan made Goff look very much like the nervous, scatter-armed young QB he appeared to be.
How dominant was the New England defense. The Rams never took a snap inside the Patriots' 20-yard line.
That is six Lombardi trophies for Belichick and Brady.
Want to really feel bad? Since 2002 Boston-are teams have captured 12 pro sports championships. Here in Philly we've managed all of 10 - since 1948!
But we'll always have the Philly Special. And the knowledge that last night's sleeping pill will always pale in comparison to one of the great Super Bowls in NFL history.
