Nick Miccarelli gets a new gig

Nick Miccarelli is landing on his feet.

The longtime Republican state rep from Ridley Park start a new job Monday - as head of Community Transit.

That's the private nonprofit transportation company that provides more than 2,000 daily trips for county residents to medical appointments and other venues.

In a press release issued after we asked about it, Community Transit said they were welcoming Miccarelli after an "exhaustive" search.

"Nick brings not only a fresh perspective, but a wealth of knowledge of human services issues in the Commonwealth," said Wendy Petkus-Mazeika.

Miccarelli represented the 162nd District in Harrisburg for a decade. He opted not to seek re-election after becoming embroiled in allegations of physical and sexual abuse made by two women in Harrisburg, including a fellow state representative. Miccarelli vehemently denied the allegations. After dragging on for months, the Dauphin County District Attorney's office announced one of the women who filed a complaint did not wish to go forward with the case and his office would not be filing any charges.
