The importance of HBCUs

As usual, I'm running late.

I find myself in that predicament a lot these days.

I think it comes from trying to squeeze the 24-hour newscycle into something more manageable - like maybe 12 hours?

At any rate, my weekly print column, my Letter From the Editor, should have run during Black History Month in February.

So consider me about a month behind the times.

Seems about right.

Today I focus on something called HBCUs.

Don't know what that means? You should.

In fact, I would conjecture that if more people were intimately familiar with these institutions, we would be light years ahead of where we are today, facing the same problems and having the same vexing discussions that have plagued us for decades.
