One question surrounding the horrific tragedy that played out in a Radnor Wawa last week has been answered.
I wondered in Wednesday's editorial when and where Brian Kennedy got the AR-15-style rifle he used to gun down his ex-wife inside the store in front of horrified employees and customers.
Turns out Kennedy bought the gun legally about a week earlier. Where he made the purchase is not yet known.
Stephanie Miller had gotten a Protection From Abuse order against her ex-husband after their bitter divorce and child custody fight.
But the PFA expired and Miller did not seek to have it renewed.
If it was still in place, under a new law pushed by state Sen. Tom Killion, R-9 of Middletown, Kennedy would not have been legally able to buy that rifle.
Yesterday Killion explained the tragedy at the Radnor Wawa was exactly the kind of scenario his legislation targeted. The law goes into effect April 11.
Today a group of legislators is expected to hold a press conference at the Media Courthouse to announce a push for new measures to protect victims of domestic violence.
