Mike Chitwood has seen a lot of things in a lifetime in law enforcement.
But until this weekend there is one thing the Upper Darby top cop had not seen - a 94-year-old crime victim.
An elderly township woman was mugged on the front steps of her home as she returned home from church. She had stopped at a local pizza shop and picked up a cheeseburger and milkshake and was about to enter her house when she was accosted on her front steps.
The suspect? Police think it was teenager, maybe 14-15 years old. In other words, about 80 years younger than his victim.
Chitwood of course gained some fame a while back by coining this warning to criminals looking to do their dirty work in Upper Darby: Not in my town, scumbag.
And he did not mince words for the young suspect being sought in this case.
"Certainly is a scumbag," Chitwood said. "This is Scumbag 101."
The hunt for the teen suspect continues.
