It's time once again for that annual rite of spring - the Harrisburg Two Step.
Forget all those high school proms.
Those kids have nothing on our elected representatives when it comes to shaking a leg.
In other words, June has arrived and its budget time in the state Capitol.
Gov. Tom Wolf, who is now free from the confines of knowing he has to run for another term, has a laundry list of things he wants in terms of new spending. This year he has something working in his favor - tax revenue is up in the state.
Wolf wants to spend it. He's pushing for a gradual increase in the state minimum wage, eventually pushing it to $15 an hour, up from the current paltry $7.25 an hour.
He also has been crisscrossing the state trying to win support for his Restore Pennsylvania Plan, an effort to attack the state's crumbling infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Republicans who still control both the House and Senate despite setbacks in that blue wave that rolled over the state last Novembers, are playing it pretty close to the vest.
Bottom line? Look for another spending plan to be passed on time, without any major tax hikes.
The rest? Don't hold your breath.
