No need for a knock-down, 'drag'-out fight

Have you heard the news?

There is going to be a Drag Queen Storytime event at the Haverford Public Library this week.

News of this brought a large crowd to this week's Haverford Commissioners meeting. There were voices raised against the event as well as in favor.

It's not the first time - either for the Storytime, or the opposition it sometimes sparks.

They held a similar event at the library last year. It was one of the most popular events of the year.

So what is Drag Queen Storytime? Well, it's about what you might expect. A man dressed in drag reads stories to kids as way to promote diversity, inclusion and understanding.

A similar event back in February in Lansdale caused a commotion, as they have in locations across the country.

You can get the details on the event here.

And we also talked to the man who will be reading stories to the kids.

I'm not going to argue either side here. I'm not surprised that this is not everyone's cup of team. I'm also not surprised that supporters have also shown up to offer another view and back these events.

Here's the thing.

This is not compulsory. No one is forcing kids to attend this show. They are taken there by their parents. This is not being done in school. There is nothing mandatory about it. If you don't agree with it, don't go. Seems like a simple solution.
