The Union 'kicks' in to bring soccer back to Chester High

Yes, they are called the Philadelphia Union.

But the Major League Soccer team does not play its games in Philly.

Their home - and their heart - is in Chester.

The Philadelphia Union plays their games in Talen Energy Stadium, in the shadow of the iconic Commodore Barry Bridge, on Chester's magnificent waterfront.

Ironically, the Major League Soccer team played its games in a city where the public high school did not have a soccer team. Chester High has not fielded a soccer team in 30 years.

Not anymore.

The the Union it putting its money where its home is - in Chester.

On Wednesday the Union, through its charitable foundation, announced a partnership with the city, the Chester Upland School District and Power Home Remodeling to underwrite the cost of returning varsity scholastic soccer to Chester High, as well as programs at the middle school level, this fall for both boys and girls.
