A final salute to Father Joe

In lieu of a blog post this morning, just a heartfelt salute to a hero - especially to the people of Darby Borough. Yes, Monsignor Joe Corley wore a collar.

But he was simply one of us, a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, and who was not afraid to roll up those sleeves and get to work serving the people he honored every day.

Testament to that was a packed - and stifling - Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Darby Borough - and the piercing wails from some of his parishioners.

Those who knew him slowly walked past his casket for hours before a Mass celebrating his good work was held last night. The crowds will return this morning.

This one's for you, Father Joe.

Rest well.
