Score one for Gabe Kapler

Score one for Gabe Kapler - and the Phillies.

Yesterday afternoon Kapler met the press and informed them he was sending third baseman Maikel Franco back down to Triple A Lehigh Valley. That raised a few eyebrows, just as it did the first time, in no small part because it meant Sean Rodriguez - he of the 1-for-21 batting slump - was still on the Phillies' roster.

Fast-forward a few hours. Kapler calls on Rodriguez to pinch-hit in the 11th inning of a 5-5 game. This comes after HecgtorNeris of course gave up a home run to tie the game in the ninth.

Of course Rodriguez smokes a ball into the seats for a walkoff homer, lifting the Phils to a 6-5 win over the Pirates in the series opener. Hernandez is mobbed by his teammates at the plate.

Score one for Kapler.

This kind of thing can only happen to the Phillies.
