DELCORA boss tells their side of story

Much has been made about all the talk swirling around a potential sale of Delaware County's wastewater agency, the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority.

Or, as almost everyone refers to them, DELCORA.

The government agency is facing some staggering costs because of mandated EPA upgrades that the local agency will be on the hook for - we're talking millions of dollars.

For that reason, DELCORA execs opened up talks with the public utility giant Aqua Pennsylvania.

But they did so without entertaining offers from other utilities - and without telling many people about it, including their workers.

As you can imagine, tongues have been wagging ever since.

Today, on our op-ed page, we hear from DELCORA Executive Director Bob Willert on why the agency is considering such a move.

You can read it here.
