Eagles 'drop' injury-marred prime time affair in Atlanta

On a night when just about everything went wrong - and seemingly everybody got hurt - maybe the most amazing thing is that the Eagles still had an unlikely victory right in their hands Sunday night against Atlanta.

But Nelson Agholor dropped it.

And then Zach Ertz came up a half-yard short of a first down.

Forget adding injury to insult.

The Eagles certainly would like to.

A bizarre series of injuries left the Birds short-handed against the Falcons, and the Eagles still almost rallied for the win. Call this one the reverse image of the infamous Body Bag game from the Buddy Ryan era, when the Eagles pounded the Redskins and saw a number of 'Skins limp of the field.

The Eagles' medical tent was the most popular spot on the Birds' sideline. Nelson Goeddert hurt his calf before the game. Then Alshon Jeffery ducked into the tent. Followed by DeSean Jackson. Even Carson Wentz popped in.

Went, without most of his weapons, still almost rallied the Birds to the win.

But Agholor dropped what looked like a sure TD late in the game, after Julio Jones staked the Falcons to a lead by taking a fourth-and-short dump pass and turning it into a dash for the end zone.

Speaking of which, if the Eagles don't soon start getting pressure on opposing QBs, this secondary is going to be toasted more then New Year's Eve.

I picked the Falcons to win. I didn't think they would start the season 0-2.

But there are lots of warning signs surrounding this Eagles team.

Not the least of which is their health.
