Kicking refinery workers when they're down

There's nothing like having your nose rubbed in it.

Getting kicked while you're down.

Adding insult to injury.

That pretty sums up what happened to a lot of laid-off refinery workers. They were shown the door after Philadelhia Energy Solutions closed their Southwest Philly refinery after that massive explosion and fire in June.

Workers for the most part got no severance and saw their health benefits cut off.

Now they're learning that at the same time, a group of execs were pocketing millions in bonuses.

And you wonder why people complain that our economy is stacked against working men and women.

Some people cry that this is 'socialism.'

For some reason, I'm not sure the unionized workforce at PES would see it the same way.

We talk about it on today's editorial page.
