Call it the mystery in the Brandywine.
Susan Ledyard was a beloved English teacher at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill. She lived in Wilmington.
Back on July 23 she left her home a few moments after 3 a.m. Her body was discovered in the Brandywine River about 7:40 a.m.
It is those hours in between that are a crucial part of this mystery.
Police say her body had visible injuries, but they do not yet have a definitive cause of death. They have ruled out suicide.
Ledyard's car was found about three miles away from where her body was discovered. Investigators do not believe she died in the river.
Now police and family members are asking for the public's help to fill in the mystery of those hours, as they try to determine what happened from the time Ledyard left her home and her body was discovered.
Yesterday they held a press conference asking for help.
