The Eagles just saved their season

The Eagles may have saved their season last night.

On National TV.

In iconic Lambeau Field (even if the tundra was not yet frozen.)

Against a legendary quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

After falling behind, the Birds were sparked by a huge kickoff return from rookie Miles Sanders.

Doug Pederson discovered he has a very good tandem of running backs, between Sanders and Jordan Howard. He used both to expose the Packers' Achilles Heel - a susceptibility to the run.

The Birds scratched their way back into the game by stuffing the ball down Green Bay's throat.

And for once, Pederson stayed with the ground game in thoroughly outcoaching Packers' first-year boss Matt LaFleur.

Yes, the Eagles' defense got torched again, with Rodgers seemingly moving the Pack at will.

But they came up with two huge goal line stands, including one with less than a minute left with the Packers knocking on the door for a game-winning score.

Instead, the Birds deflected a pass that was intercepted by Nigel Bradham.

Game over.

Season saved.

The Eagles are now 2-2 instead of an unthinkable 1-3 and have a mini-bye as they can rest up - and get healthy - before meeting the lowly Jets at the Linc two Sundays from now.

My biggest complaint about the game? The length.

We were holding the paper to get the result of the game in. The game streched until just a few minutes before midnight.

Yes, you will notice a lot of bleary eyes in the office today.

With big smiles on their sleepy faces.
