The Phillies have something in common with Mark Twain

Hold the Eagles chants, folks.

Much like Mark Twain, reports of the Phillies demise seem to have been great exaggerated.

I'm as guilty as anyone else. Raise your hand if you had given up on the Phillies.

Yeah, I'm with you.

But this squad does not seem as if it is ready to do a repeat of last September's El Foldo act.

Last night the Phils again pounded the Reds, 6-2, for their third straight win, keeping them within shouting distance of that second wild card slot, 2 1/2 games back of the Cubs.

In the process Bryce Harper picked up his 100th RBI of the season. He's the first Phillie to do that since some guy named Ryan Howard back in 2011. He's the first Phillies outfielder to put up 30 homers and 100 RBI in a season since Pat Burrell back in 2005.

And it gets better. The Phils have their ace Aaron Nola going to the hill tonight. Of course, he also was excellent in his last two starts, but got no support as the Phils lost them both.
