Local election, national tone

I could have sworn when we go to the polls next Tuesday we were taking part in a local municipal election.

So why am I hearing TV ads painting incumbent Republican District Attorney Kat Copeland as an acolyte of President Donald Trump.

And then there's the GOP ad mashing the three Democratic candidates for County Council into three leading national Democratic figures with Socialist leanings.

Yep, it's that time of year.

Get used to it.

On today's editorial page, we review what's at stake in this election, and why it is so important.

Despite the ads that will bombard us for the next week.
