A ill wind blows through Delco

Mother Nature played her own version of Trick-or-Treat last night. Here's a hint: It wasn't a treat.

If you had political signs dotting your lawn, you might want to check on them this morning.

Same goes for any trash cans, lawn furniture and even the roof.

Take if from someone who made the harrowing drive into the office in the pre-dawn darkness.

We got hammered by the weather last night.

After a very mild day that saw temperatures soar into the 70s, the rain stopped and the clouds parted just enough to squeeze in most of the traditional Halloween Trick-or-Treat activities.

But about 11:30 things took a turn for the worst.

That warm air collided with an incoming front and created stormy conditions.

Several tornado warnings were issued.

The storm sparked high winds and torrential downpours that brought down leaves, limbs, trees and power lines.

The storm seemed to make a direct hit on a neighborhood in Thornbury, where officials believe a tornado may have touched down.

Several homes were damaged or destroyed by the sudden, vicious storm, which only lasted about 30 seconds.

There were some minor injuries. Several families were evacuated.

But the Cobblestones at Thornbury development, including Chelsea Court, which is off Cheyney Road, was devastated.

You can get all the details here.

More than 100,000 people remain without power across the region, according to PECO.

Driving is going to be a mess, with lots of traffic signals out and complete roads closed by downed trees.

Several schools in Bucks County are closed.

We will have a high-wind advisory until about noon, then temperatures will plunge tonight as a serious autumn chill moves in for the weekend.
