A new era in Upper Darby police, but for how long?

Welcome to the post-Mike Chitwood era for Upper Darby police.

And congratulations to Lt. Timothy Bernhardt, who was tapped Monday by Mayor Tom Micozzie to serve as interim chief once Chitwood rides off into the sunset on Dec. 1.

Bernhardt will lead the department at least until Jan. 6.

That's when the new administration, including Democrat Mayor-elect Barbarann Keffer, take the reins of Upper Darby government.

The big question is whether Keffer will keep Bernhardt in the superintendent's post.

Yesterday she said it was still too early to say.

We'll keep an eye on this one. Get all the details here.
