Chester Water Authority gets another friendly voice on its board

There is some good news for those who fear for the future of the iconic, much beloved Chester Water Authority.

Out in Chester County, commissioners have appointed a Kennett Square attorney to the nine-member CWA board. Lenny Rivera is not a stranger to the board, he served on it once before.

The key to Rivera is that he has been fairly outspoken in his opposition to any sale of the water authority, which finds itself up to its ears in legal wranglings over its future.

It continues to try to fend off offers to buy it from public utility giant Aqua America.

And the city of Chester continues to push efforts to sell the authority to get the revenue it needs to climb out of Act 47 Distressed City status.

A lot of people suspected there was some shenanigans when talk circulated about possibly expanding the board, in the process stacking it with folks who would look favorably on the city of Chester's efforts to sell the authority.

That now does not look like it is going to happen.

At least not if Lenny Rivera has a say.

We talk about it on today's editorial page.
