The big prize on the Delaware County ballot today is three jobs on Delaware County Council.
The existing council - which is still a 3-2 Republican majority - made a little news of their own late Monday afternoon.
They rolled out the county budget - which does not include a tax hike for the sixth straight year.
Last year they actually cut taxes.
There will be a public hearing on the $358,133,000 spending plan on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in the County Council Meeting Room, 201 W. Front Street, Medfia.
The second reading and final adoption of the budget by the council will be held Dec. 11 at the regularly scheduled 10 a.m. council meeting.
Yes, the cynic in me recognized that council rolled out their 'no-tax-hike' budget the day before a crucial election that will see three new faces join the panel and possibly flip the balance of power in the county?
Would they have made the announcement if taxes were going up? I don't know.
Then again, the flip side to me would suggest if they really wanted to make hay on this budget, they would have announced it last week, not late in the afternoon on the day before Delco voters go to the polls.
Welcome to Election Day. It's going to be that kind of day.
