We're off!

It's 7 a.m. and the polls just opened.

The stakes are high in Delco, with three seats on County Council and the D.A.'s job on the line.

Three incumbent Republicans are leaving council, which means the balance of power could shift in a seismic change for Delco politics. If Democrats can take one of the three seats up for grabs, they will seize control of council since they already have two incumbents on the panel.

Democrats Monica Taylor, Elaine Schaefer and Christine Reuther are facing off against Republicans Jim Raith, Kelly Colvin and Mike Morgan.

The other high-profile race pits incumbent Republican D.A. Kat Copeland, who was appointed to the post after D.A. Jack Whelan won a seat on the county bench, trying to fend off a challenge from Democrat Jack Stollsteimer.

Copeland just might be the most recognizable face on the ballot.

Look, we can't be everywhere today. We'll be focusing our efforts on the countywide races. But there are also dozens of local borough and township races, as well as key school board slots up for grabs.
