Welcome to the Beaver Moon

We were driving home from a visit with the grandkids in D.C. when my wife first noticed it.

Me? I was trying to figure out if we were going to make it home before it got dark. We made it by a few minutes.

But I think we were helped by what the Mrs. noticed - a huge full moon that looked like you could just reach out and touch it. As it turns out, this is something called the Beaver Moon.

It will be visible through Wednesday morning, and will actually reach its full-moon peak about 8:30 Tuesday morning. That's the good weather news. There is plenty of lousy weather news as well.

We will actually hit 62 degrees later this afternoon, before things take a serious turn for the wintry worse.

It's even a bit weirder around the country. Some areas actually are expecting a 70-degree dip in temperatures.

Welcome to winter.

Around here, we are expecting much colder temperatures tomorrow morning, along with a cold rain that eventually turn into snow showers.

This one might actually coat some grassy surfaces, as opposed to that squall that blew through Friday morning.
