What's the big stink?
No, we're not talking about those Delco elections.
We're talking about Delco's air.
For the second time in just a matter of weeks, a mysterious gas-like odor blanketed much of the county Monday. It started around Ridley and the Boeing plant just before 10 a.m. and quickly spread over much of the central and western parts of the county.
Once again, Emergency Services boss Tim Boyce said his team looked into it, but could not come up with a culprit.
And just to make matters worse, a gas leak at a pumping valve at a Sunoco gas pipeline out in Middletown sprung a leak last night, sending a mist of petroleum and a persistent gas smell over the area.
Residents were told to stay inside.
This was not connected to the Mariner East project, according to the company.
In the meantime, the source of the original stink remains a mystery. The county is calling in state Department of Environmental Protection investigators as they try to get to the bottom of it.
