The battle of Clifton Heights heats up again tonight.
The Upper Darby School District will go before the borough Planning Commission to hear public comments on their controversial push to build a new middle school on the borough's beloved athletic fields off Springfield Road.
The school district and borough are locked in a legal battle over which zoning regulations actually should apply to the project. The borough passed new measures to make it harder for the district to get the OK, including a new height restriction. The school district is arguing their plan should be considered under the old zoning regs. The two sides are due in county court later this month to hash that one out.
But the district is also taking an interesting tack in their fight to build the school.
Tonight's hearing is limited to borough residents only. If you want to comment, you have to live in Clifton Heights.
But that is not stopping the school district from urging those who support the plan to make themselves noticed.
They sent out an email blast to district residents last night reminding them that only borough residents can speak. But they also are planning to stream the meeting live so that all district residents can view the proceedings.
They also urged any borough residents who are in favor of the new school project to attend the meeting and speak up in favor.
The Clifton Heights Planning Commission meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Clifton Heights Borough Hall, 30 S. Springfield Road.
