Carson Wentz delivers

First things first: The Eagles won. They are still alive in the hunt for the NFC East crown and a playoff berth.

Carson Wentz did something we have been waiting for him to do. He put a clearly struggling team on his back and willed them to a win in the second half.
And he did it with J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Greg Ward as his wide receivers. More about that in a bit.

The Birds were horrific in the first half, continuing the kind of play on both sides of the ball that they showed last week in Miami. They were serenaded by a chorus of boos from drenched fans as they left the field at halftime, down 17-3 to Eli Manning and the Giants. Yes, the game was every bit as ugly as the weather.

But Wentz rallied the team to two second-half touchdowns and the defense - including a huge play from forgotten man Sidney Jones - kept the G-Men off the scoreboard in the second half.

The game went to OT and Wentz and company never gave the Giants a chance. The Eagles took the kickoff and Wentz drove his team 75 yards for the winning score. Manning never got back on the field.

But there is a curious element to this game that has to make you wonder what is going on - in both the Eagles locker room and front office.

Nelson Agholor was not active for this game. He continues to nurse the injury that kept him out of practice all week.

The Birds went into the game with just Alshon Jeffery, Arcega-Whiteside and Ward as wide receivers.

Everyone was wondering just what the Birds would do if the oft-injured Jeffery was to get hurt.

That came to fruition in the first half when Jeffery hobbled off the field and was in a cart headed to the locker room, unable to rerturn. Did the Eagles not know that Agholor was a question mark for the game? How could this happen.

Those questions will linger even as the Eagles kept their playoff hopes alive.

The win brings them into a tie with the Cowboys atop the NFC East.

They win their final three games and they're in.

Who knows who Carson Wentz will be throwing the ball to at that point.
