The Flyers picked another big win last night, defeating the Anaheim Ducks, 4-1.
And that wasn't even close to being the important thing they did.
Before the game they greeted teammate Oskar Lindblom, the first time he was back in the locker room since announcing he has been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
Very few sports franchises have engendered the sense of family that pervades the Flyers. It is the legacy of longtime owner Ed Snider, who dearly loved the orange and black.
It's part of the reason their fans are so loyal, sticking with a team that has not won a Stanley Cup since 1975.
Last night the Flyers took to the ice in their pre-game warmups in purple "Hockey Fights Cancer" T-shirts. The team now will auction them off, with the money raised going to Ewing sarcoma cancer research. Every seat was adorned with an 'I Fight for Oskar' poster, and fans waved them during a video tribute to the emerging young star.
One thing is certain. Lindblom is not in this fight alone.
The Flyers family will be with him every step of the way.
