We're just a week into 2020, and one thing is certain: It's been a very bad year for fires.
This weekend the string of fires turned deadly, when a man lost his life in a blaze in his Marple home, despite the efforts of neighbors and first responders to rescue him. They were able to get his wife out, but could not reach her husband.
That follows a string of bad fires.
A family in Ridley escaped with their lives - but lost everything else - when flames roared through their home.
A family in Middletown also saw their home suffer heavy damage in a fire.
Make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home.
Prepare an escape plan should fire break out.
It's going to be that kind of year.
