Big Red is going back to the Super Bowl

They are the words made famous by Andy Reid.

The words that are near and dear to every Eagles' fan's heart.

And if he can manage one more Sunday without uttering them, he will be a Super Bowl champion.

"I have to do a better job."

They were always Reid's calling card after a tough loss while coaching the Eagles, including a Super Bowl appearance, and crushing losses in a couple of NFC title games.

Reid coached the Birds to five NFC title games, including four consecutive appearances, but only got to one Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and fans will forever be haunted by Reid's time management in a bitter loss to Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the Patriots. Late in the game, Belichick actually wondered if the Eagles were ahead, puzzled by Reid's use of the clock.

His 221 victories are the most of any NFL coach who does not have a Super Bowl champion ring to go with them.

Reid is headed back to the Super Bowl as boss of the Kansas City Chief, in no small part because he has the best quarterback in football in Patrick Mahomes.

That stunning offense will be tested by the stout defense of the San Francisco 49ers, which throttled Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bacy Packers to punch their own ticket to the Super Bowl in the NFC title game.

Reid has never won a Super Bowl.

He'll never have a better chance than this year.

It says here this is Big Red's year.
