You Geaux, Guy! A salute to Ed Orgeron

There is no mistaking LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.

The man with the most unmistakable voice in sports can add one more accomplishment to his resume: national champions.

Orgeron's Tigers capped off the perfect season last night by demolishing Clemson, 42-25.

Things have not always been perfect for Orgeron.

He was let go as the head football coach at Ol' Miss after leading them from 2005 to 2007. He landed at the USC and was named interim head coach in 2013.

But the story goes that Orgeron did not get the full-time gig because a USC booster didn't think he sounded like the coach at USC.

Hard to argue with that. Orgeron is not southern California cool. He's pure Cajun, with a deep, gravelly baritone that sounds like something out of "The Waterboy."

But no one is laughing at Orgeron now.

He's the coach of the best team in college football. And it's not even close.
