That didn't take long.
It will now cost you another $5 when you renew your car registration.
That's because Delaware County Council signed off on a proposal aired last week to slap the fee on motorists in order to collect on a pot of state funding for county infrastructure.
Of course this set off howls of "we told you so" and "the new Democrats in charge are already raising our taxes."
Relax.
This is the right thing to do.
The move is expected to raise $2 million. And the best part is that the state will match the funding, meaning $4 million for improvements. Tired of complaining about roads and bridges? This should help.
Now, of course, if nothing gets done at this point aside from reaching into your pocket for another 5-spot, then you'll have something to complain about.
