Leach irked at Delco Dems

Daylin Leach is not a happy camper.

That's what happens when you get snubbed by your own party.

Leach, D-17, who represents part of the Main Line in Delco as well as a chunk of Montgomery County, has been under siege since accusations of improper interactions with women - mostly salty office talk - caused lots of Democrats, including Gov. Tom Wolf, to demand that he step down.

Leach, well-known for his edgy humor, vehemently denies most of the more serious allegations, while admitting his language could probably use some work, has steadfastly refused and vowed to see re-election in November.

That won't get any easier, now that Montgomery County Democrats have refused to endorse a candidate. Even worse, last week Delaware County Democrats actually endorsed a woman who is challenging him for the nomination.

Most of the 17th sits in Montco. Dems there didn't make an endorsement after he failed to get the required 60 percent of the votes cast at their recent endorsement convention. He actually got fewer votes than a challenger, Amanda Cappelletti, who went on to get the nod from the Delco Dems.

Leach apparently is not happy with the process by which the Delco Dems went about making their call, and he told Philadelphia Magazine he's considering suing.

The 17th District state Senate race will be very interesting, if only to see Leach go hammer and tong with his own party.
