Here's Coronavirus update. Warning, it's not good.
Many Catholic parishes are suggesting that the faithful forego the traditional 'Sign of Peace' - very often a handshake - in the wake of the spread of the virus. Instead parishioners are being urged to simply nod or offer a verbal greeting.
There also are concerns being raised about the traditional Communion offering.
In most instances, the priest or Eucharistic minister, offers the host and places it in the cupped hands of the recipient. As usual Eucharistic ministers are being asked to take the routine cautions of washing hands often.
Then there are dinosaurs like me, the product of eight years under the firm hand of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Baltimore Catechism.
I still take the host in my mouth, being of the belief that you are not supposed to touch it with your hands. Yeah, I might have to amend that stance.
Then there is the NBA. The league yesterday advised players not to share any high-fives with fans and also be wary of accepting items from fans seeking autographs.
Of course, some people manage to see an economic opportunity in just about anything. First it was surgical masks. Now reports indicate it is enext to impossible to find hand sanitizer on many store shelves.
Yeah, this is getting serious.
