I can report that I was a bit taken aback by the reaction to yesterday's print column in which I staked out my Lenten mission for a more civil conversation.
I heard from several readers - including one parish priest - who liked the idea. The priest even went to far as to indicate he would "borrow" the thought for one of his homilies.
Of course, not everyone was ready to embrace this new civility.
That includes one longtime critic who called and proceeded to yell and scream at me.
When I cut the call off, he called back and unleashed a stream of profanity.
Actually, I prefer Mr. SOB, if you don't mind.
Clearly we have a ways to go with this project.
